W.A. MOZART (1756-1791)
Concert Aria K374

‘Or che il cielo a me ti rende’

‘Or che il cielo a me ti rende’ was written in Vienna in 1781 for
the male soprano Francesco Ceccarelli (1752-1814) who had
travelled from Salzburg with Mozart accompanying the Archbishop Colleredo. It was a most unhappy time for Mozart with confrontations
with the Archbishop which eventually resulted in his dismissal /
resignation from the Archbishop’s service. None of this is evident in
this beautiful Rondò exploiting the grace and finesse for which
Ceccarelli was renowned.
