piano score and violin part £7-99
The Serenade and Berceuse, from Op. 30, make a perfect pair as a concert item. They can of course be studied and performed separately as well. The Serenade has Spanish elements in the melody with rolled chords in the piano suggesting guitar accompaniment at times. The Berceuse is contrastingly in a French style with the regularity of the rocking cradle upset by the frequent excursions from 6/4 time into 5/4! Both pieces, however, are also imbued with a brooding Russian flavour as well – a most interesting and unusual mixture.
