James Ellis’s oratorio Songs from Luke was recently issued on CD, and it will be performed by the London Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Vladimir Jurowski. He has had works performed by the London Symphony Orchestra, London Sinfonietta, BBC Singers, Endymion Ensemble, Capricorn, Orchestra of St John’s Smith Square, Sir Thomas Allen, Lionel Handy and Stephen Barlow. Future plans include an opera for the 2012 Hay Festival Dark Hearts, the story of the Hay Poisoner, a trio for flute, viola and harp, and a setting of Michelangelo madrigals for Catherine Wyn Rogers.

He lives and works in London and Old Radnor.
